Exploring Creative Writing | Fall 2019
[Thursday September 19 - December 12]
A blank page can be a bit like a desert island: lonely, dry, frustrating. Learn how to fill the page with adventure and excitement at this workshop designed for children ages 7 to 14. Students will be led through fun yet challenging creative writing workshops that pull inspiration from many different disciplines. Workshops combine poetry and narrative with visual art, science, mythology, and much more!
Students are highly encouraged, though not required, to attend each week. All workshops begin at 4 p.m. and end promptly at 5:30 p.m.
Workshops are free to kids in the Birmingham area, but registration is required. Students may register to drop in for one workshop or attend all sessions. The grade levels listed above are meant as a guideline for parents to determine whether or not a workshop is suitable for their children. Students need to be able to read and write independently to attend DISCO workshops. Students are not permitted to use cellphones during workshops. DISCO follows the Birmingham City School Calendar and Closings.
