Only peace! That is what the young writers of Solo Paz are after. They find peace in quiet rooms and stretching galaxies, spinning leaves and rain-soaked earth, memories of homelands and the promise of a new language. As members of the All City Writers Corps, students in Birmingham classrooms met throughout the school year with Desert Island Supply Co. instructors and volunteers for writing workshops that explore history, culture, wonder, and belonging. Every student receives a free copy of the book. Proceeds from book sales help fund DISCO's writing programs in Birmingham schools.
